Shooting in Gastonia Convenience Store Parking Lot

Gastonia Police Department
Press Release

Gastonia Police are investigating a Thursday afternoon (June 9th) shooting in the parking lot of a N. Chester St. (US321) business that left a 20-year-old Gastonia man dead.

Police answered the call shortly before 5 PM to the S&K Express on N. Chester St. near Davidson Avenue.  They found Deandre McCoy lying in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

A witness told police he didn't actually see the shooting but heard it.  He said he was getting something out of his car when he heard what he said were 18 shots.  When he turned to look, he saw a car speed away and McCoy lying on the ground.  He was still alive at that point, but died at the scene according to police.

The gas station is a busy location and police interviewed multiple people who were present when the shooting occurred.  No further details had been released Friday morning.
