Domestic Dispute Leads To Shooting, One Person Hospitalized

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a shooting incident that left an Iron Station, NC man hospitalized in critical condition.

Deputies were dispatched to the incident at the residence shortly before 1 a.m. on November 22, 2022. The reporting person, Nichole Loraine Chandler, 43, told tele-communicators at the Lincoln County Communications Center that she shot her husband.

Deputies located the victim lying on the floor of a walk-in closet with a gunshot wound. He was treated and stabilized on the scene by Lincoln County EMS then airlifted to Atrium Health – Main in Charlotte, N.C. He underwent surgery and is listed in critical condition in ICU.

Ms. Chandler was interviewed at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office then taken before a Lincoln County magistrate where she was charged with one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury. She was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center without the privilege of bond. A first court appearance is set for November 23, 2022 in Lincoln County District Court.

Investigation into the incident is continuing.
