Charlotte Man Charged With Forgery & Uttering

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives have charged a Charlotte man with writing and passing a forged check.
Detective Richard Calhoun began the investigation on September 9, 2017 after a suspect cashed a counterfeit check in the amount of $893.00 at the Bank of America Waterside Crossing Branch in Denver, N.C. Surveillance photos and transaction information was obtained from Bank of America which later identified the suspect as Harold Lorenzo Hill, 63, of Charlotte, N.C.
Detective Calhoun secured warrants on Hill for felony forgery of an instrument and felony uttering a forged instrument. Hill was arrested by Charlotte Mecklenburg Police on October 2, 2017 on the Lincoln County warrants. He was also served warrants with the same charges out of Gaston County. He remains in the Mecklenburg County Jail under a total bond of $2,500 secured. Hill is scheduled to appear in court on October 31, 2017 and November 2, 2017 on the two incidents.
Hill also committed similar acts in multiple counties around the greater Charlotte area and is expected to receive additional charges from multiple agencies. The investigation is continuing.
