LINCOLNTON, N.C. - West Lincoln High School Navy Junior ROTC’s 12th annual “Rebel Navy” Day Pass-in-Review was held Wednesday, October 4 in the football stadium following a morning personnel inspection of the cadet company by Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Chris Cannon, USMC.
Distinguished guests included Lincoln County Sheriff David Carpenter; former Lincolnton Mayor John Gilleland; School Superintendent Dr. Lory Morrow; Director of Secondary Education Ms. Samantha Campbell; Lincolnton HS Principal Mr. Tony Worley; WLHS Principal Mr. Brian Clary; and WLHS Guidance Director Ms. Amy Cable. Also in attendance were family members, faculty and students, and representatives of veteran organizations including the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Marine Corps League, and active duty military members. Music was provided by the West Lincoln Rebel Band under the direction of Mr. Taylor Brown.
The following cadets were recognized for their exemplary personal appearance during the morning’s personnel inspection: Cadets Daryl Charbonneau, Michael Cunningham, Matthew Gerlits, Ethan Hoyle, Michaela Hunter, Joshua Seagle and Morgan Thomas.
Following the pass-in-review was a command brief presented by Company Commander Hatcher and his staff to LTC Cannon, Dr. Morrow, Ms. Campbell, Mr. Clary, and Ms. Cable. As the inspector for the day, LTC Cannon was very impressed with effort and performance of the “Rebel Navy” cadets and congratulated the unit on their recognition as a 2017 Distinguished Unit for a sixth consecutive year.
