The investigation into the case began when Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Detective Kelsey Harrington received a report on December 28, 2016 after deputies responded to a call at CHS-Lincoln reference a missing 15-year-old juvenile.
It was determined during the investigation that the juvenile had engaged in sexual intercourse between January 1, 2016 and January 12, 2017 with Alomar Teracious Edwards, 25, of Lee Avenue, Lincolnton, N.C. The victim knew the suspect in the case.
Detective Harrington interviewed Edwards on January 13, 2017 while he was in the Lincoln County Detention Center on other charges. He admitted to having sex with the female and was charged shortly after with two counts of Statutory Rape/Sex Offense of a victim 13, 14 or 15 years old by a Defendant at least 6 years older. He was indicted by the Lincoln County Grand Jury on the second degree kidnapping charge.
Edwards has been transferred to the North Carolina Department of Corrections.
