Closings & Delays For Tuesday Dec. 11

The Lincoln Herald has received word about the following closings and delays for Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Lincoln County

  • Lincoln County Schools will be closed on Tuesday, December 11 for students and staff due to winter road conditions. Essential staff only need to report at 11 a.m. to prepare campuses. No athletic or cultural arts activities will occur.
  • Lincoln Charter School (Lincolnton & Denver) will be closed Tuesday.
  • The Lincoln County Board of Education meeting has been moved to Thursday, December 13 at 6:30 p.m.  The reception for Ms. Candace Burgin will begin at 5:30 p.m.
  • All Lincoln County offices will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11.
  • All City of Lincolnton offices and facilities will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11.
  • There will be NO solid waste trash pickup on Tuesday in the City of Lincolnton.
  • Alki Outfitters Grand Opening/Ribbon Cutting has been changed to Tuesday, December 18.  
  • Gaston College will open at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday.
  • The East Lincoln @ Statesville basketball games scheduled for Tuesday have been rescheduled for Friday December 21st.

Gaston County

  • Gaston County Schools will be closed on Tuesday, December 11 for students. Employees should report to work on a three-hour delay, but only if they can do so safely.
  • Gaston College will open at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday.
  • The Cherryville basketball games for Tuesday, December 11 have been  postponed until a later date to be announced. 

Catawba County

  • Catawba County Schools will be closed Tuesday, December 11 for staff, students and the Quest Program. Hickory City Schools will also be closed.  Newton-Conover Schools will have no school for students; it will be an optional teacher workday.
  • Most Catawba County offices and facilities will operate on a two-hour delay Tuesday, December 11, due to wintry conditions. Government offices and the Blackburn Landfill will open at 10 a.m.
  • All three Catawba County Parks (Bakers Mountain, Riverbend and St. Stephens) will open at 11a.m. Residents planning to visit a County park Tuesday are advised to call the park and check conditions prior to arriving.
  • The Catawba County Main Library in Newton will open at 11 a.m. All other Catawba County library branches (Claremont, Conover, Maiden, Sherrills Ford-Terrell and Southwest) will open at their usual opening time of 12 p.m.

Cleveland County

  • Cleveland County Schools will be closed for students, teachers and all 10-month employees.
