Complaints About Illegal Drugs Leads To One Arrest

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigators arrested one man on drug charges following complaints about illegal drugs at a residence on Cansler Road, Vale, N.C.

Following several weeks of aggressive investigation by using surveillance and other investigative techniques, investigators were able to apply for and receive a search warrant for the residence at 3129 Cansler Road, Vale, NC.

Narcotics investigators and Adam District patrol deputies executed the search warrant at the residence around 9:45 a.m. on December 18, 2018 without incident. Seized in the raid were 224 grams of methamphetamine and 27 grams of Opioids. Officers also seized several types of drug paraphernalia including small baggies consistent in the use of selling and delivering controlled substances.

George Rankin Hayes Sr., 47, of 3129 Cansler Road, Vale, NC was charged with one felony count each of trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking in opium or heroin, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance Schedule II. He is also charged with one misdemeanor count each of possession of hydrocodone and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hayes was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $75,000 secured bond. He has a first appearance today (December 18, 2018) in Lincoln County District Court.
