Denver Man Charged With 2nd Degree Kidnapping

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Kelsey Harrington has charged a Denver man with 2nd degree kidnapping in connection with an incident that occurred in September of 2018.

On September 25, 2018 the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding the sexual assault of s 13-year-old female. The victim, a distant relative of the suspect, was interviewed at the Lincoln County Child Advocacy Center where she accused Timothy Sean Dishman, 45, of Campground Road, Denver, NC with sexually assaulting her.

The alleged sexual assaults occurred in Catawba County but the victim was transported from Lincoln County by Dishman.

On December 28, 2018 Detective Harrington with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Detective Yang with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office interviewed Dishman who admitted to kidnapping the victim on September 15, 2018 with the intent to commit sexual offenses. He was taken into custody following the interview and charged with felony 2nd degree kidnapping. He was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Haven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond. He will have a first appearance in Lincoln County District Court on December 31, 2018.

Catawba County Sheriff’s Detectives are continuing the investigation and are expected to pursue charges against Dishman.
