Iron Station Man Charged In Shooting Incident

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – An Iron Station man has been charged in connection with a shooting incident where shots were fired into an occupied vehicle late Saturday night (February 16, 2019).

Deputies responded to the 5400 block of East NC Highway 27 to a man who was shot at another location and driven to a church parking lot on East NC Highway 27.

It was later determined the shooting occurred in the driveway of 3251 Bluegrass Lane, Iron Station and the resident, Jonathan Miles Blanton, 33, is accused of firing the shot into the moving vehicle. The shot came through the back window and struck Bobby Alexander Holmes of Asheville, N.C. who was driving the vehicle.

Holmes was transported to Caromont Medical Center in Gastonia where he was treated for the wound. He remains hospitalized and is listed in stable condition.

Blanton was interviewed and charged with one felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury and discharging a weapon into an occupied moving vehicle.

He was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond. Detective Greg Hager and Dylan Houser are the investigating officers.
