Sheriff's Deputies End Maiden Police Chase With Stop Sticks

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A vehicle chase that began near Maiden around 1 a.m. on February 26, 2019 ended in Lincoln County when sheriff’s deputies’ deployed stop sticks to bring the vehicle to a halt.

Sheriff’s deputies were alerted to the vehicle chase that started near Highway 321 in Catawba County and was traveling south on Startown Road. The vehicle continued into Lincoln County and turned onto Clark Creek Road and headed toward Bethel Church Road. Sgt R. Hoernlen deployed the stop sticks across both lanes of travel on Bethel Church Road and the suspect vehicle struck them with all four tires.

The driver traveled a short distance onto Buffalo Shoals Road but had to pull off on the shoulder of the road and stop because of damaged tires. Deputies C. Alexander and C. Medina assisted the Maiden Police officer with taking the driver and two other individuals in the car in custody.

Maiden Police charged the driver, Stacie Reanne McGuire, 17, of Lenoir with felony operating a vehicle while fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement and failure to stop for a traffic light.

Jyteonjay Antayvious Rippy, 22, of Lenoir was charged with felony altering the serial number on a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon and Calieb Scott Clark, 21, of Newton was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

Maiden Police also found a large amount of counterfeit bills in the vehicle. Their investigation is continuing.
