Office Press Release

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A Shelby man has been arrested in connection with the assault and robbery of a Johnstown Road woman.

Deputies were dispatched to the residence in the 2500 block of Johnstown Road on February 21, 2019 in connection with an assault. When they arrived on the scene it was determined it was safe for Lincoln County EMS to enter the scene. EMS treated the victim in the case for a laceration to the head and the suspect had already left the scene.

Officers learned that Buddy Weeks, who was at the home to do some repair work, got into an argument with another party at the residence. The group took the argument outside and the victim was pushed down. When she fell a firearm she was carrying came out of the holster and was picked up by Weeks who struck the victim in the head with the gun.

Sheriff’s Detectives J. Propst and M. Burgess conducted the investigation into the incident and determined the firearm was located in Gaston County. A search in a wooded area off Tot Dellinger Road near Cherryville turned up the firearm in a plastic bag.

Buddy Edward Weeks, 33, of Shelby was taken into custody on March 4, 2019 on charges of felony common law robbery, felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, felony conspiracy, misdemeanor resist, delay and obstruct a public officer, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance Schedule II and misdemeanor communicating threats.
