On Saturday February 23, 2019, the wanted man was stopped by deputies in McIntosh County, Georgia for using his cell phone while driving. When a records check revealed he had outstanding warrants in Lincoln County, he was arrested and held until he could be extradited to Lincoln County. On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, he was transported back to Lincoln County and formerly charged.
Jose Garcia-Ledesma, 43, of Charlotte, was charged with 12 felony counts of Identity Theft. He was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $65,000 secured bond. He is also being held on an ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) detainer. Garcia-Ledesma had a first court appearance in Lincoln County District Court on March 6, 2019. The investigation is continuing and additional charges may be pending.
