Deputy Assaulted While Serving Felony Warrants

LINCOLNTON, N.C. - On Friday, March 15, 2019, a detective with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was assaulted while attempting to serve felony arrest warrants for two individuals in western Lincoln County.  The assault occurred near the 7100 block of Doyle Beam Memorial Road in Vale.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Detective Jon Propst, along with Adam District patrol deputies, was attempting to arrest two individuals located inside a residence when a female suspect was taken into custody.  While walking the female to a patrol vehicle, the suspect attempted to pull away from the officer refusing to be placed into the patrol car.  Once Detective Propst got the suspect to the car, he attempted to place her inside and she kicked him multiple times about the legs and chest.

The second suspect, a male, was found hiding behind a bed in a bedroom and arrested without incident. Both suspects had outstanding felony warrants for various drug violations and the male suspect had an additional warrant for possessing a firearm while being a convicted felon.  The charges came after the result of a search warrant conducted by deputies on March 13, 2019 at the two suspect’s primary residence located near the 900 block of Guy Heavner Road in Lincolnton.

Mikki Elizabeth Wylie, 35, of Guy Heavner Road. Lincolnton, NC was charged with one felony count each of possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances.  She was also charged with one misdemeanor count each of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Wylie received additional charges when arrested including one misdemeanor count each of assault on a government official and resisting a public officer.  She was jailed under a $70,000 secured bond.  Wylie’s first court appearance will be Monday March 18, 2019 in Lincoln County District Court.

Larry Wade Stanley II, 43, of Guy Heavner Road. Lincolnton, NC was charged with one felony count each of possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  He was also charged with one misdemeanor count each of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Stanley received a $75,000 secured bond and will make his first court appearance on Monday March 18, 2019 in Lincoln County District Court.

Detective Propst is the lead investigator on the case and was assisted by Detectives Burgess, Lookadoo, and Stamey, as well as multiple Adam District patrol deputies. According to detectives, the case is still under investigation and more arrests and additional charges may be forthcoming.
