Carjacking Vehicle Found In Lee County Following Chase

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A vehicle stolen in a carjacking in eastern Lincoln County early Wednesday morning (March 20, 2019) wrecked during a chase with Sanford Police overnight.

A Sanford Police officer ran the license plate on the tan Honda Accord and the plate came back stolen from Lincoln County. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the driver of the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. The vehicle wrecked in the 3200 block of NC Highway 87. One of the occupants of the vehicle jumped from the vehicle and ran from the scene. Two other occupants, a male and a female, remained in the vehicle.

Keymonty Leray Davis, 20, of Fayetteville, N.C. was arrested and charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest and felony possession of a stolen vehicle. He was jailed under a $51,000 secured bond. He was also served a felony probation and ordered held without bond in the Lee County Detention Center.

Tahnice M. Bell, 17, of Sanford, N.C. was charged with felony possession of a motor vehicle, resist, delay and obstruct a public officer and driving while license revoked. She has not been arrested.

The third person in the vehicle was not charged.

In Lincoln County the victim, Patrick Reilly, told deputies he was getting ready to leave for work Wednesday when he encountered the suspects. When he entered his vehicle to leave, two of the black males walked up the driveway and the third pulled their SUV into his driveway blocking his car. The suspects who had their faces covered banged on his car window and one of suspects pulled out a handgun and ordered him out of the vehicle.

They demanded his money, wallet and keys to vehicle. One of the suspects drove his vehicle away while the other person got back into the small SUV.

Detective Matt Burgess is the lead detective in the case. The investigation is continuing.
