Lincoln County Sheriff's
Office Press Release

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Law enforcement officers from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Lincolnton Police Department and the North Carolina Highway Patrol visited West Lincoln High School on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 to speak to students about many topics including how to conduct yourself if you are ever pulled over in the traffic stop.

The officers explained the difference between each agency and what they do on a daily basis. The topics of discussion in the classroom meeting were traffic safety, driving after consuming alcohol or drugs, how to make the upcoming prom a safe outing and complying with law enforcement.

After discussing the issues with the class, the officers opened the program up to a question and answer session before class time ended. Officers were pleased with the participation by students and look forward to visiting other county schools. They hope these programs will establish positive officer-student relationships and the belief that young people and law enforcement officers can benefit from spending time together, discussing challenges, and better understanding each other.

Officers participating in the West Lincoln High School program were Capt. Charlie Greene, School Resource Officer Lonnie Leonard and Deputy Joe Sutton from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Master Trooper Jeffrey S. Swagger with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, and Lt. Matt Painter and Patrol Officer Michael Reep from the Lincolnton Police Department.
