Family Dispute Leads To One Person Injured, Another Arrested

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – On May 31, 2019 Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a call at the Home Run Market in the 3500 block of East NC Highway 27 in connection with an assault that had occurred.
The caller indicated that the victim, Douglas Faulkner of Denver, N.C., had been assaulted by his brother, David Faulkner. The incident started during an argument between the two brothers when they met at the convenience store. The incident turned physical when David Faulkner assaulted his brother with a vehicle door. The victim suffered a serious laceration to the side of his head causing a severe injury to the victim’s ear. The victim was transported to CaroMont Medical Center in Gastonia, N.C. for treatment. The incident was over a long standing family dispute.
The suspect, David Faulkner, 44, of Vale, N.C., fled the scene but was apprehended by Lincolnton Police a short time later. He was turned over to deputies and was taken to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office where he was interviewed. Faulkner was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate where he was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center where he was processed and released after posting a $10,000 secured bond.
The incident was investigated by Detectives D. Houser, R. Calhoun and G. Hager. Assisting with the investigation were Sgt. S. Dombrowski and Deputy B. Lineberger.
