Thursday afternoon, a neighbor noticed a truck had run off the road on Linsbury Court in Gastonia and into the side of a house. It turned out that an unconscious man was slumped over the steering wheel with a bloody bandage on his right hand.
Gastonia Police say the 61-year-old man had apparently suffered an injury while cutting limbs and vines on a creek bank at his home on Timberwood Drive, a short distance away. He apparently tried to drive himself to the hospital but passed out.
His death was one of two late in the week in Gaston County.
Early Friday morning, 25-year-old Gary Eugene Rhyne ran off Lewis Road in the Crowders Mountain area As he was on his way to work. He died in that single vehicle accident.
