Cleveland County Sheriff's
Office Press Release

The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 33-year-old Troutman man, Justin Michael Wilson, who was wanted in connection with the theft of construction equipment in Gaston County and in South Carolina. Wilson was charged with Obtaining Property by False Pretense and two counts of Possession of Stolen Property.

The investigation included Gaston County Police, Fort Mill Police, Pineville Police and Mt. Holly Police. Wilson was stealing and reselling heavy equipment throughout the region.

It is estimated that he stole and resold or attempted to resell $500,000 worth of equipment including a Dozer, Excavator, Skid Steer and a Tractor and Trailer. The Excavator and Skid Steer was stolen from Mt. Holly and recovered in Cleveland County; the Dozer was stolen in Gaston County and the Tractor and Trailer was stolen from Pineville. The items were recovered in Fort Mill, SC.

Wilson worked for a construction company and knew how to operate heavy equipment and used that knowledge to steal such items.

It's thought that he may have been involved in other equipment thefts over the last several months and the investigation is continuing.

Wilson was already on probation so he is being held without bond.
