Lincoln County Land Search Team Finds Woman Lost in Woods

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – The Lincoln County Land Search Team along with Sheriff’s deputies, Lincolnton Fire and Lincoln County EMS located a woman who reportedly was injured and lost in a wooded area.

The Land Search team was called out Friday morning, Sept. 27, around 3:30 to look for the woman in a wooded area south of Risen Church on Salem Church Road.

The incident began around 2:30 a.m. when two homeless females were trying to walk to a boyfriend’s camp site in a wooded area when one of the woman became too exhausted to continue. The other female was able to make it out of the wooded area and called for assistance.

The Land Search team and Lincolnton Fire Department deployed drones in an attempt to locate the woman with thermal imaging. Sheriff’s Lt. J. Frye and Sgt. T. Carpenter began to search the area where the woman walked out of the woods They located the woman and her boyfriend. The boyfriend had located the woman in a ravine but they got lost trying to find the man’s homeless camp site.

Both of the individuals were transported out of the wooded area to the Command post. Neither person was injured.
