A 53-year-old Maiden man, David Daniel Moore, will spend the next 18 to 27 years of his life in prison following his conviction Wednesday (Oct. 9th) on two counts of statutory sex offense. Judge Athena Brooks, handed down the prison sentence after Moore pleaded guilty.
As in most sexual assault cases, Moore had been a long-time acquaintance of the victim’s family.
The investigation was begun by Conover Police in April 2018 when the female victim said the defendant had touched her in an inappropriate manner. The victim was then referred to the Children’s’ Advocacy and Protection Center (CAPC) of Catawba County. The CAPC conducted an interview of the victim, leading to more serious allegations and eventually to the charges.
