Probation Search Leads To Drug Arrest

LINCOLNTON, N.C. - The search of a residence occupied by a man on probation led to an arrest on drug charges and probation violation.

North Carolina Probation Officers and Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies went to a residence in the 100 block of Kellom Lane to do a search of the residence. When the officers arrived on the scene two people fled into a wooded area but one person was taken into custody.

The officers were doing a check at the home of Matthew Zachary Coleman, 20, of 163 Kellom Lane, Lincolnton, NC who was taken into custody. Officers found marijuana, Xanax, drug paraphernalia, cash and a handgun in the residence. Officers also located marijuana in a vehicle left behind by the two people who ran from the scene. The people who ran from the scene could not be located and the vehicle was towed.

Coleman was transported to the Lincoln County magistrate’s office where he was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule VI controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation. Coleman was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $45,000 secured bond.
