At the November meeting the Lincolnton City Council approved the exterior colors for the new City Police Department. The architect submitted four different renderings of possible exterior colors. The Council selected the first option by a unanimous vote after several questions and discussion. They felt that the red, gray and brown would be a good fit for what the Council has envisioned for the City.

Though there is no definite completion date, it is estimated to be ready for move-in sometime in the spring.

The City Council also honored Lt. Robert “Tony” Hallman on his upcoming retirement on December 1st. Lt. Hallman has served the City for 28 years.

There were several public hearings on the agenda. The Boger City VFD requested a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) to construct a new fire training center on their current site at 400 McAlister Rd. The Council unanimously approved.

Rebecca Chambers requested conditional use rezoning from Medium Density Residential (R-10) to Neighborhood Business Conditional (NB-CU) for the purpose of a beauty salon. Several neighborhood citizens protested the change citing safety concerns. The City Planning Board had recommended rejecting the change and the Council unanimously rejected it.

Roger Calhoun applied for a Business Incentive Grant for interior renovations to accommodate second floor retail space and showroom at 124B East Main Street. The Council approved.

The Council announced that it had received three responses to their request for proposal to renovate the property at 110, 112, 114, and 116 E. Water Street for a new restaurant. The restaurant would be a full service restaurant seating a minimum of 100 diners. No decision was made at the meeting.

The Council did go into closed session to discuss economic development issues. It was assumed by those still in attendance that the discussion involved those three proposals.
