Two women, one from Bessemer City (according to her arrest record) and one from Stanley, have been charged with murder in the death of another woman Monday afternoon.
At 1:55 PM Monday (March 30th), police responded to 707 Church Street, a Cramerton address just south of McAdenville, after a report of a hit and run incident. Police found 44-year-old Dana Jackson Robinson lying dead in the driveway of her residence.
Initial reports indicated she was struck in a hit and run incident and the North Carolina Highway Patrol responded. Cramerton Police and Gaston County Police responded as well. Further investigation revealed the homicide occurred during the commission of a motor vehicle theft.
Gaston County Police identified and located two suspects and with the help of Lowell Police and Ranlo Police arrested the two women: Ashley Nicole Martin, 32 (her booking information had her address as Bessemer City, but police listed it as 310 Carline Ave., Lowell); and Tabitha Lee Dinges, 38, of 131 Woodhaven Drive, Stanley. Martin, who has at times also lived in Charlotte, had previously been charged with theft of a motor vehicle in 2018 and possession of a stolen vehicle in 2016 as well as other charges last year. At the time of this latest incident, she was free on $22,500 secured bond. Dingess was also free on bond from a drug charge in May 2018--she had failed to appear on multiple occasions. The two were charged with first degree murder. They had a first appearance in district court on Tuesday (March 31st) and were returned to jail without bond. Their next court date was set for May 5th.
