LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A tip from a community member has led to the arrest of a Catawba County man on drug charges.
On Wednesday, April 8, 2020, Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies were notified by a concerned citizen about suspicious activity at an apartment on Keener Road east of Lincolnton.
Deputies searched the area near the apartment and eventually located the suspect vehicle. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies J. Counts, J. Dunigan, and G. Killian discussed the situation and decided to do a “Knock and Talk” at the apartment in the 2200 block of Keener Road. When they arrived at the residence officers saw a male subject in the driver’s seat and a female in the passenger seat.
The driver was identified as Jeremy Thomas Stevens, 41, of Slanting Bridge Road, Sherills Ford, NC and was detained until a deputy returned to the scene with a search warrant. A search of the vehicle turned up drug paraphernalia and 48 grams of methamphetamine. Officers also seized $1,233 in US currency from inside Stevens’ sock. No charges were filed against the female.
Stevens was charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine, possession with the intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond.
