If you think you may have COVID-19, you'll be glad to know that Kintegra Health, formerly Gaston Family Health Services, will hold a series of tests next week.

Executive Director Robert Spencer said he had hoped to avoid a rush as the medical group utilizes one of its two mobile dental clinic buses as a testing site at five locations in Gastonia, "but the word is out, and we'll be pleased to add this to one of the many services we provide in the communities we serve."

"Appointments are necessary," he told us, "and we aren't trying to test everybody. The ones we want to see are those who are experiencing symptoms that could be COVID-19...things like a dry cough or a fever--a body temperature of 100.4 or higher. If all goes well, we're hoping to use the other mobile dental unit to expand testing to the other counties we serve including Lincoln and Catawba, but next week it's just in Gastonia."

While the testing is being done in Gaston, Spencer said Kintegra won't turn anyone away regardless of where they live. While the testing sites are in or near minority neighborhoods, there is no restriction on who can be tested.

If you are experiencing symptoms and want to be tested, call 704-874-3316 to make an appointment. The testing will be done from 10 AM - 2 PM daily.

Kintegra Health, formerly Gaston Family Health Services, operates a Lincolnton location on Gamble Drive near the Lincoln County Health Department (Kintegra Family Medicine) and a dental office (Kintegra Family Dentistry), also on Gamble Drive a little closer to Country Club Road.  Other offices are located in Cherryville (Kintegra Family Medicine, 112 S. Oak St.), Bessemer City (119 W. Pennsylvania Ave.), Maiden (Catawba Valley Family Medicine, 137 Island Ford Road), Hickory (133 1st Ave. south), Statesville, Mocksville and multiple practices in Gastonia.

Kintegra Health is a community sponsored, family-centered provider of health care, health education and preventive care services without regard for the ability to pay. While Kintegra will see patients who have Medicaid, Medicare, private or employer-sponsored insurance, or no insurance at all, Kintegra has become a primary source of care for the 'working poor,' who don't qualify for Medicaid or Medicare and can't afford insurance.  Income-based qualifications allows many to get the health care they need who would otherwise not be able to be seen by other practices.
