Hickory Police reported a shooting Sunday morning that left one man dead. Meanwhile, Gastonia Police are still investigating a stabbing death that occurred early Tuesday morning but have made no arrest so far.

Shortly after 2 AM Sunday (Sept. 27th) Hickory Police responded to the Sunny Valley Apartments on 3rd Avenue SE. They found two men, Armstrong Ahadrac Seme, 20, and Jalen Michael Marquis Shade, 28, both wounded by gunshots. Seme was taken to Frye Regional Medical Center where he died as a result of his injuries. Shade was transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he was in stable condition at mid-morning Sunday.

Witnesses told police three black males wearing dark clothing and COVID type face coverings approached Jalen Shade as he stood outside in front of Sunny Valley Apartments. One of them engaged Shade in a brief conversation prior to shooting him multiple times. Armstrong Seme, a bystander, was struck by several bullets as the suspect was shooting at Shade. The shooter was described as a black male approximately 5’7” wearing dark clothing and a dark colored COVID style face covering. Police said it appears that the suspect was familiar with Shade and targeted him.

Anyone with information regarding this on-going investigation is encouraged to call the Hickory Police Department at 828-328-5551 or contact Investigator Mark Chapman at 828-261-2628 or mchapman@hickorync.gov.

In Gastonia, police say two men were injured in a double stabbing shortly after 5 AM Tuesday (Sept. 22nd) One of them, Antell Kirkland, 31, of Charlotte, died from his injuries. The other, Rache Bobby Lynch, 26, of Gastonia, was treated and released. As of Sunday morning, no charges had been filed, but police say their investigation is continuing.
