Lincoln County Sheriff's
Office Press Release

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Deputies responding to a break-in alarm at O-Reilly’s Auto Parts at 367 N NC 16 Business around 3 a.m. today (October 23, 2020) discovered the front door glass had been shattered.

Deputies entered the building and discovered that the thieves had already left the scene with about $1,000 worth of merchandise. Deputy C. Palin also responding to the scene noticed a suspicious vehicle turning onto Highway 73 and followed the vehicle to NC Highway 16 four-lane. Deputy Palin activated his emergency equipment and stopped the vehicle as it traveled south on Highway 16.

The driver of the vehicle, Angela Yolette Copper, admitted the group first went to Tractor Supply on NC 16 Business and attempted to break-in to the store to steal a trailer. Following that they went to O’Reilly’s Auto Parts where a cinder block was thrown through the door to make entry. Deputies also located a portion of a cinder block and the stolen goods inside the suspect vehicle. Charlie District deputies and detectives investigated the incident.

Angela Yolette Copper, 25, of Druid Drive, Charlotte, NC, Terica Angelic Coleman, 28, of N. College Street, Charlotte, NC and John Daniel Barnett, 40, of Huntersville, NC were charged with one count of felony breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, conspiracy, and possession of stolen goods. In addition, Barnett was charged with attempted breaking and entering and conspiracy. Coleman was also charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering.

The suspects were taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond each.
