LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Two people are facing charges in connection with an altercation in eastern Lincoln County where a gunshot was fired.
On Monday night, March 1, 2021, deputies were dispatched to the area near East Coast Wings on Cross Center Drive reference an altercation involving multiple people and the report of a gun shot during the incident. When the first officer arrived everyone in the altercation had fled the scene.
Detectives were called to the scene where they interviewed several witnesses and viewed some cell phone recordings and business surveillance video made during the incident. Detective F. Runyon identified several vehicle owners involved and took statements from the victims. One of the vehicle owners was identified as Austin Rhyan Roseberry, 20, of Acorn Ridge Trail, Iron Station, NC. Roseberry was interviewed and admitted his involvement in the incident. He was issued a citation for damage to property for kicking a vehicle of one of the victims who was known by him.
During the interviews. Detectives were able to identify the person who discharged the firearm as Jessie Carlos Docouto, 21, of Devine Road, Iron Station, NC. Docouto was located at his residence and cooperated with the investigation. He turned the firearm used in the incident over to the officers. Docouto was charged with misdemeanor assault by pointing a firearm, going armed to the terror of the public and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon. He was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $6,000 secured bond.
No one was injured by the gunshot and at least one of the suspects and one of the victims were known to each other.
