Matthews Man Killed On US 74 At Kings Mtn.

Lincoln Herald Staff

A Matthews man died in what might have been a freak accident on Highway 74 in Kings Mtn. Monday morning (March 15th).  Cleveland County Communications received a call shortly before 7 AM and dispatched Oak Grove Fire Department and Cleveland County EMS to a vehicle on the side of the road adjacent to the eastbound lanes at the off ramp to Oak Grove Road on US 74.  The owner of the vehicle, identified as Roger Wesley Lineberger of Matthews, was found underneath the vehicle near the rear tires.  Police said their investigtion didn't indicate any foul play.  It was theorized that Matthews may have stopped, got out of his vehicle, and then it rolled back over him.  The NC Highway Patrol was also called to investigate.  Anyone who has further potentially pertinent information is asked to contact Sgt. K.L. Hamrick with the Kings Mountain Police at 704-734-0444.
