LINCOLNTON, N.C. – On March 23, 2021 while Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office narcotics officers were conducting a surveillance operation, patrol deputies were dispatched to assist with a traffic stop of a vehicle.
Deputies stopped the vehicle in the 600 block of Riverside Drive, Lincolnton, NC and requested assistance from a K-9 unit. The K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics on the passenger side of the vehicle.
Deputies then searched the vehicle and located 44 grams of methamphetamine, a firearm, and several false bottom containers used for concealing controlled substances. One of the cans was full of plastic baggies that are sometimes used for distributing a controlled substance.
Officers charged Justin Edward Broyles, 36, of Park Circle, Lincolnton, NC with trafficking by possessing methamphetamine, trafficking by transporting methamphetamine, trafficking by manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Broyles was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under an $80,000 secured bond.
