Hickory Police Say Two Were Injured Wednesday Night

Wednesday night (April 7th) at approximately 10:40 PM, Hickory Police responded to  251 3rd Avenue SE after receiving a 9-1-1 call that a female had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located a 59-year-old woman, Penny Lee White inside the residence with a gunshot wound to the head and leg. A 16-year-old male also had a minor injury to his arm from a gunshot wound. White was transported to Catawba Valley Medical Center where she was initially treated, then transferred to Atriium Health's Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte where she was listed in stable condition. The 16-year-old male was treated at the scene for his injury. 

During the initial investigation, it was determined that White and the 16-year-old were inside the residence when an unknown subject or subjects fired multiple rounds into the residence while standing in the front yard.
