Vaccination Update

Wayne Howard
Staff Writer

The Lincoln County Health Department will offer open scheduling for first dose Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to individuals age 18+ on Thursday, April 15th and Friday, April 16th. Vaccine shipments continue to be constant, but only a few hundred in total. Therefore only a limited number of appointments continue to be available.

The health department will use an online appointment system for the Thursday and Friday slots. Anyone with an appointment will be asked to bring in a print-out of their appointment confirmation or proper identification.

The appointment slots will be made available online Tuesday (April 13th) at 9 AM. The vaccine appointment link can be found at http://www.lincolncounty.org/2355/COVID-19-VaccinationInformation under “Schedule an Appointment-Health Department-Lincolnton.”  For people in the eligible priority group that do not have the means for online scheduling, the health department will reserve an allocation that can be made by phone at 704-479- 2206.

The health department will provide additional opportunities for open scheduling of appointments as vaccine supply allows. Those who receive their first dose COVID-19 vaccine at the health department are guaranteed a second dose vaccine. Officials ask that due to the high demand for vaccine and limited weekly supply, if you make an appointment and are no longer able to keep your appointment, please cancel your appointment through the scheduling system or notify the health department at 704-735-3001 ASAP.

Additonally, Kintegra Health has another Lincoln County first shot clinic scheduled for this Wednesday (April 14th) at Covenant Church on the Gastonia Highway (1-3 PM).  CLICK HERE to register for an appointment.

Based on an increase in COVID-19 vaccine availability, Catawba County Public Health, Catawba Valley Health System and Frye Regional Medical Center are working together to fill a large number of individual appointments starting this week. Individuals who wish to schedule an appointment may now call the COVID-19 Vaccination Referral Line at 828-282-2002 (Mon-Fri 8 AM - 5 PM).

In addition to scheduling by phone, appointment specialists will continue to call individuals to schedule appointments requested through www.CatawbaVaccine.org. Both options are available to anyone 16 and older who wishes to receive a vaccination.

Atrium Health has a first shot clinic scheduled for Tuesday & Wednesday (April 13th & 14th) at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.  Anyone 18 or older can get a vaccination at this event.  Since they'll be using the Pfizer vaccine, a second shot will be necessary (May 4th & 5th) and those 16 & 17 are not eligible for this clinic.  Atrium Health will have another Pfizer vaccine clinic April 20th & 21st at the stadium (second shot May 11th & 12th) and one on April 27th (second shot May 18th).  All of these clinics will be from 7:30 AM - 3 PM.  Appointments are required.  To make an appointment, visit www.thisismyshot.com.

Additionally, vaccinations are continuing at Walgreen's, Keever Pharmacy, and some other locations.

According to the NCDHHS, 28.4% of the state's adult (18+) population has now been fully vaccinated (22.2% of the total population).  16.7% of Lincoln Countians have now been fully vaccinated.
