A Conover man wanted in the robbery of the Truist Bank died Friday night (March 11th) during a chase with Nash County deputies on Interstate 95. Thomas Ketelsen, 60, had been identified by Conover police as the suspect in the Wednesday (March 9th) robbery of the Truist Bank. Police say he was also suspected in recent bank robberies in Salisbury and in Camden and Summerville in South Carolina.
A Robeson County deputy spotted Ketelson's SUV, which had been identified as a suspect vehicle after police identified Ketelson from security video at the bank, and told Nash County that Ketelsen was headed north on I-95 into their county. There he was pursued and lost control of his vehicle in the chase, crashed and was killed in the wreck.
