LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Lincoln County Schools is fortunate to partner with Atrium Health to provide several important services to our staff and students.
With Atrium Health Levine Children’s Community Based Virtual Care program, students are able to participate in a virtual visit with a doctor while remaining at school. Instead of students calling parents to pick them up, then take them to an appointment, students have access to physicians through a virtual platform. All Lincoln County Schools participate. In addition, principals receive monthly “report cards” which provide statistics on the program.
Iron Station Principal Chelsea Seagle said, “It is so fulfilling to have a partnership that provides all of the stakeholders of Iron Station with the opportunity to receive quality healthcare. Not only does Telemedicine provide quality healthcare, it allows our students and staff to remain at school, to prevent loss of instruction. Our staff, students, and families continue to praise the efforts of Telemedicine. They truly are a partner we can rely on!”
Atrium Health has expanded its community based virtual care to teachers and staff of Lincoln County Schools. When the need arises, teachers and staff request an appointment to see a provider while at school. An Atrium Health Medical Assistant at school will set up the virtual visit. Using special technology, the provider can diagnose and treat conditions such as allergies, sore throat, ear pain, or stomachache. The provider will send in prescriptions if necessary.
Virtual visits for both students and staff may require a co-pay, depending on the patient’s insurance plan.
In addition, Atrium Health has provided Mental Health First Aid training for all Lincoln County Schools certified staff members for the past six years. Atrium facilitates all training, and also provides the necessary books at each training session.
Atrium Health, along with NC Med Assist, sponsors free medicine giveaways, which are held onsite at Lincoln County Schools’ Central Services Office. Atrium and Second Harvest Food Bank also sponsor a School Mobile Pantry event where families receive produce, meat, and dairy items for free.
Atrium Health also sponsors Certified Athletic Trainers at each of our four high schools, and provides CPR training for all coaches and staff.
These programs are just a few of the offerings that Lincoln County Schools and our community benefit from. Lincoln County Schools is appreciative of all of the time and effort Atrium Health shares with our organization.
