Vale Man Arrested After SWAT Team Called Out

A Vale man was arrested Tuesday morning after a domestic violence incident on Banoak Road off Highway 10. Gregory Lee Lackey, 36, was charged with communicating threats and assault on a female.

The Catawba County Sheriff's Office SWAT team was called to the scene after deputies learned that Lackey, who had fled into the woods, was armed with a shotgun. They were able to take him into custody without anyone being injured. He was jailed under a $1,000 bond.
