An outbreak of COVID-19 cases has caused the temporary closure of a Cleveland County School; Governor Cooper approves going to Phase 3; and some are upset over Lincoln County's choice for Plan A.  Those are the latest items of news on the coronavirus in our area.

MaxPax LLC Coming To Hickory
In the midst of the pandemic-caused downturn in the economy, the Catawba County Economic Development Commission had some good news to report Thursday.  A Wisconsin company, MaxPax, LLC announced that it will invest $9.55 million and create 300 jobs in Catawba County.

Lincoln County's unemployment rate went up by one percent in July compared to June--but it was still lower than any of the surrounding counties.  While the job market has been hurt by the pandemic, there are still jobs available.
