Sales Continue Upward Trend
Maybe it's the improving economy--after all, many businesses were shut down a good part of last year due to the pandemic. Maybe it's inflation--because prices are higher than they were a year ago. Whatever the reason, retail sales in all area counties are substantially higher so far this year.

The Lincolnton City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 PM Thursday (Aug. 5th) at  City Hall.  Among other items to be considered will be a possible change to a City Incentive Program.

Unemployment Shows Slight Increase
Unemployment increased slightly in June in all but one of North Carolina's 100 counties.  Lincoln County's unemployment rate remained among the state's lowest.  There are signs that some portions of the economy may be tapering off from the recovery of Spring & early Summer, but some employers are still having difficulty filling jobs.
