All-Conference Winners Announced

West Lincoln and North Lincoln both had five players named South Fork Conference All-Conference baseball selections for 2019. Maiden and Bandys each had four All-Conference selections.

From West Lincoln, Chris Moxley, Samuel Duncan, Dylan Burkey, Brandon Lail and Bobby Beam were chosen. All-Conference players from North Lincoln were Joey Cobb, Seth Whitley, Jake Soorus, Jake Quilla and Matt Heavner.

Maiden's All-Conference winners were Dylan Abernethy, Ross Fowler, Grayson Brown and Jacob Caudle. For Bandys, those selected were Ivan Huffman, Cy Spencer, Alex Reavis and Sal Ferraro.

East Lincoln had two All-Conference winners: Garrett Michel and Gabe Duncan. Others named All-Conference winners were Brantley Durham of Newton-Conover and Drew Gugino and Max Doherty of Lake Norman Charter.

West Lincoln's Moxley was named the Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year and Garret Michel of East Lincoln was named the Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year.

John Markley of West Lincoln was named Coach of the Year.

West Lincoln and North Lincoln tied for the regular season conference championship. North won the tournament championship.


North Lincoln got five All-Conference selections in softball. Maiden, East Lincoln and Newton-Conover each had four.

From North Lincoln, the regular season conference champs, McKayla Watts, Mia Duvall, Haley Patrick, Aidyn Cada and Morgan McCaslin were chosen.

From East Lincoln, Katelynn Crowe, Kylie Thress, Katie Hogue and Payton Baker were All-Conference; from Maiden, Morgan Bohemier, Addyson Ikard, Rachel Cooke and Jaiden Kiser; and from Newton-Conover, Maddie Carpenter, Grace Loftin, Georgia Ingle and Emilie Murphy.

Alexis Shires from Lincolnton made All-Conference as did Kinsley Gilmore and Morgan Chapman from West Lincoln, Ashtyn Hopson and Bailey Burton from Bandys, and Jenna Carter from Lake Norman Charter.

McKayla Watts of North Lincoln was named the Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year and Jenna Carter of Lake Norman Charter the Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year. North Lincoln Coach Breanna Tapp was named the Coach of the Year.

While North won the regular season title, Maiden took the tournament championship.

The state playoffs are underway this week with the state championship to be decided the weekend of May 31-June 1.
