Kuthan Scores 1,000th Career Point In Mustang Win

DENVER - East Lincoln outscored Bandys 41-14 in the second half to break open a close game and win by a score of 80-43 in the South Fork 2A Conference game held Friday night in Denver.

East Lincoln had two players in double figures, led by senior, Justin Kuthan, who had 31 points and 14 rebounds, and senior, Myles Adams, added 17 points and 8 assists.  Jeremiah Jones added 12 assists.

Bandys had one player in double figures, senior, Brandon Harrill, who had 10 points.

Justin Kuthan scored his 1,000th career point Friday night.  Only nine other Mustang boys basketball players have achieved this event in the 52-year history of the school. 

The Mustangs have won 23 straight games against the Trojans dating back to the 2004-2005 season. 

The Mustangs will next be in action on Tuesday night as they go on the road to play the Maiden Blue Devils.  The Trojans will be at home against the West Lincoln Rebels.

Brianna Tadlock had 19 points, 6 steals, 4 assists and 1 block in the Lady Mustang’s win over Bandys Lady Trojans 52-36 at East Lincoln Friday night. Also scoring in double figures were Sara Rhoney for East and Logan Dutka for Bandys.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 9

BOYS: East Lincoln 86, South Iredell 54 --- East Lincoln led 54-30 at halftime and poured it on in the second and win the game by a score of 86-54 over the Vikings in the non-conference game played Thursday night in Denver. The Mustangs had four players in double figures led by sophomore, Evan Montanari, who had 20 points, senior, Myles Adams, added 19 points, senior, Justin Kuthan, had 14 points and 9 rebounds, and sophomore, Jeremiah Jones, added a double-double with 11 points and 11 assists. The Vikings had three players in double figures, led by senior, Hunter Barnette, who had 20 points, while senior, Chase Labelle, added 10 points, and sophomore, Justin Alquiza, also added 10 points. The Mustangs set a school record by knocking down 15 3-point shots.  The previous record was 14 set by the 1990-91 and the 2017-2018 teams.  East Lincoln is currently on a 3-game winning streak.

GIRLS: East Lincoln 56, South Iredell 47 --- Scoring in double figures were Brianna Tadlock with 44 for East Lincoln and South Iredell’s Sarah Nelson with 10. Also scoring for East were G. Overbay 3, T. Thomas 3, S. Rhoney 2, M. Delgado 2, T. Robinette 2. South Iredell scorers were A. Zeigler 9, J. King 8, S. Houser 8, L. Mercer 7, T. Brown 5. 

TUESDAY, JANUARY 7

BOYS: East Lincoln 77, North Lincoln 51 --- The Mustangs led 44-31 at halftime and outscored the Knights 33-20 in the second half to take the win by a score of 77-51 in the South Fork 2A Conference game played Tuesday night in Pumpkin Center. The Mustangs had three players in double figures led by senior, Justin Kuthan, who had 29 points, senior, Myles Adams, added 16 points, and sophomore, Evan Montanari, also added 16 points. The Knights had two players in double figures led by, sophomore, Jack Waggoner, who had 16 points, while senior, Matthew Regan, had 13 points.  Of Note: With the win, the Mustangs have won 6 in a row against the Knights, and for the last decade hold a 19-4 record. 

GIRLS: East Lincoln 52, North Lincoln 48 --- Brianna Tadlock for East Lincoln had 30 points, 5 steals, 4 assists, 2 blocks and 3 rebounds in the Lady Mustangs win over North Lincoln Tuesday night. Also scoring for East were K. Cox 8, S. Rhoney 5, G. Overbay 4, M. Delgado 2, T. Thomas 2, and T. Robinette 1. North Lincoln scorers were Ashlyn White 10, R. Seagle 9, A. Reid 8, A. Wadkovsky 8, A. Gaddy 5, D. Ambrose 4, and H. Klein 4.
