It may have been the season-ending game...at least so far. The NCHSAA has suspended all athletic competitions indefinitely, so games that had been scheduled for next week won't be played (at least not next week). Lincolnton suffered its first loss of the season Thursday (March 12th) losing to Maiden 10-0. The Wolves could manage only two hits in the loss.
Games for Friday are still permitted, and so far as we know, the North Lincoln Knights will play at Bandys. The NCHSAA suspension of activities officially begins at midnight Friday and is currently scheduled through April 6th. Depending on what happens with the COVID-19 virus, a decision will be made on whether or not to resume play after that.
East Lincoln is scheduled to play Newton-Conover at East Friday. The Mustangs beat East Rutherford Wednesday 11-9. Joshua Stephens was named the player of the game after going 2 for 3 at the plate, scoring a run and driving in one. Matt McCowan went 3 for 3, scored three runs and drove in one; he also stole two bases.
West Lincoln is scheduled to play at Lake Norman Charter Friday. The Rebels lost a Wednesday game to Cherryville 9-2.
A 17-run first inning was all Maiden needed in a game called after three innings. 17-1 was the final score.
North Lincoln is scheduled to host Bandys Friday. The Knights lost to Crest 3-2 on Wednesday. East Lincoln won their game with South Point Wednesday 17-1; they weren't scheduled to play again until next week, and those games have been suspended for now.
West Lincoln is scheduled to play at Lake Norman Charter Friday.
