BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae College Head Women’s Soccer Coach Cally Morrill announced the addition of 12 newcomers to the 2020 recruiting class. The newest group of Bobcats include: Averee Andrews (Raleigh, N.C.), Taylor Barrineau (Iron Station, N.C.), Camryn Belin (Clemmons, N.C.), Tia Davenport (St. Augustine, Fla.),  Hannah Davies (Fleetwood, Hampshire, England), Halle Disney (Hickory, N.C.) Olivia Hoirup (Raleigh, N.C.), Sophia Leonetti (Miami, Fla.), Gen Porsche (Huntley, Ill.), Samantha Reeve (West Hills, Calif.), Mallory Roughton (Nashville, N.C.), Samantha Smith (Leland, N.C.).

“To begin with, we hope everyone is safe and healthy during this unparalleled time,” said Coach Morrill. “Despite the pandemic and in looking forward to better days ahead, we are extremely excited to announce our 2020 recruiting class. I want to thank Coach Erin Barcal and our support staff for their tireless work and effort in helping bring in such exceptional people to this program. This class of twelve has tremendous potential to impact our program both in the short and long term as there is a fantastic blend of driven, competitive, motivated, mindful and talented athletes. I believe you will see some players step in and be major contributors from day one. Our staff and team await the opportunity to integrate this class into our Bobcat soccer family."

Among the 12 newcomers is Taylor Barrineau (Freshmans/Forward). From the coaches: "Taylor is a very strong and skillful attacking player. Her versatility will allow her to play anywhere across the front line or in the midfield. She can score goals!"

Barrineau comes to Banner Elk from Iron Station, N.C. where she was a forward for East Lincoln High School. Barrineau, who was instrumental in leading her school to the 2018 North Carolina State Cup Championship, breaking the school’s single-season record for goals with 33 in 2019 and the school’s career record with 70 goals. The three-time All-Conference and All-Region Athlete also garnered the 2019 North Carolina 2A All-State honors.  She was also a strong performer off the field, earning Honor Roll while being a member of multiple clubs and programs.
