It was 'the Mason Avery Show' Friday night (Aug. 20th) as Avery carried the ball again and again as the Rebels rolled up yardage and held on for a victory over North Lincoln. An 80-yard pass from Kyle Kovalchuk to  Liam Sutton and the EP kick gave the Knights the lead in the first quarter, but West tied the score before halftime on a one-yard run by Avery, and Trista Primmer kicked her first of two EPs.
The Rebels took the lead in the third period on a 7-yd run by Avery. North threatened in the final seconds, but the Rebels stopped the Knights at their 3-yd line to preserve a 14-7 opening game victory.  Avery finished the night with 243 of the Rebels' 354 yards rushing.  On Friday (Aug. 27th) West will play at Cherryville while  North will be at Lincolnton.
