CVAC Announces Cross Country All-Conference

The West Lincoln girls and Bandys boys won the Catawba Valley Conference Cross Country championships.  Now the league has announced its All-Conference selections.

At the conference meet, Meah Walsh of East Burke was the individual winner. Paige Oldenburg of Bandys finished second, Kylin Wayne of Maiden third, Emily Hedrick of Bandys fourth, and Chloe Compton of West fifth. Jillian Mawyer of West was 6th. Rebels Adleigh Sutton finished 10th and McKenna Helms 20th.

David Birkhofer, Jr. of Bandys was the fastest runner among the boys.

The girls All-Conference choices, announced Wednesday (Oct. 27th) were:

Meah Walsh and Candace Willis of East Burke; Paige Oldenburg and Emily Hedrick from Bandys; Maiden's Kylin Wayne, Macy Landis, Alyssa Keener, and Shaley Dunn; Bunker Hill's Kaylee Nelson; Evie Bradley from Lincolnton; and West Lincoln's Jillian Mawyer, Chloe Compton, Adleigh Sutton, and Abi Barkley.

Paite Oldenburt of Bandys was named Runner of the Year and Rick Mitchem of West Lincoln Coach of the Year.

The boys All-Conference choices were:

David Birkhofer, Jr., Grant Parham, Bryson Burkett, Cole Dean, Jake Knight and Cody Serenti, all from Bandys; Hunter Smathers from Maiden; East Burke's Caleb Johnson-White, Jonathan Garcia and Jackson Spencer; Ben Martin from Bunker Hill; Lincolnton's Jacob Sigmon and Chandler Sneed; and West Lincoln's Evan Hartsoe.

Grant Parham of Bandys was named Runner of the Year and Don Parham of Bandys Coach of the Year.

The teams will now compete in the NCHSAA West Regional meet at Freedom High School in Morganton on Saturday (Oct. 30th).
