One of the best games of the year was played Friday night at West Lincoln. The Rebels won 21-18, but Lincolnton gave them all they could handle. The Wolves scored first and led 6-0 at the end of the first period. West scored and took the lead 7-6. Lincolnton then scored again and led 12-7 at the half. The Rebels got the next TD and took a 14-12 lead, but LHS answered to lead 18-14. West Lincoln got the winning touchdown with just over three minutes left in the game. Lincolnton still had a chance when they made it into West Lincoln territory with two minutes left, but the Rebels defense stopped them and West ran out the clock.
Lincolnton started the season with four losses, then won four games before losing to Maiden and West Lincoln; and even with a 4-6 record, LHS made the playoffs! They'll play at Monroe next Friday. Newton-Conover, 3-6, also made it. They'll play at East Surry.
Maiden has a right to be upset. The 10-0 Blue Devils were seeded #3 behind Shelby and East Surry. West Lincoln got the #14 seed and will play at home against Surry Central. Bunker Hill was seeded #11. They'll host East Davidson. Burns was seeded #12 and will host McMichael. East Gaston was seeded 24th and will play at Community School of Davidson.
In the 3A playoffs, North Lincoln was seeded #13 and will host West Rowan. East Lincoln was seeded #18 and will play at Oak Grove.
