WFAC Tennis

The Western Foothills Athletic Conference has announced its All-Conference selections for girls tennis. It's easy to understand that the Player of the Year honors went to Alexis Wolgemuth of Fred T. Foard. Alex, as friends call her (her mother calls her 'A'), moved up along with her school--from 2A previously to 3A this year. She had won the 2A state title, so this year, she won the 3A individual state championship.

While Alex was collecting accolades in singles play, the North Lincoln girls made it to the semi-finals of team play last Monday (Nov. 1st) before losing to Gastonia Forestview. The Knights finished the season with a 14-2 record including two wins in the state playoffs. They had won the regular season WFAC title with a 7-0 record.
Joining Wolgemuth as All-Conference from Foard was teammate Anna Schmidt. North Lincoln had four All-Conference selections: Emma Carver, Meghan Restino, Anna Gore and Madison File. East Lincoln's All-Conference choices were Hannah & Molly McGuirk. Others named All-Conference were Nicole Kozischek, Ellie Holtzman & Jonellis Heredia of Hickory; Brianna Alfaro of St. Stephens; Madison Forsack of West Iredell; North Iredell's Lily Warren and Elleigh Williams; and Chloe Hoyle of Statesville.

Diane Phillips of St. Stephens was named Coach of the Year.
