It must be the 'game of the week.'  West Lincoln will play at Maiden Friday night in the second round of the NCHSAA 2A football playoffs.  The unbeaten Blue Devils won a close regular season game at West, and the 14th seeded Rebels are anxious for a rematch.  The Blue Devils were seeded #3 for the playoffs.

The winner of the West @ Maiden game will get the winner of the Bunker Hill @ Salisbury Friday night game next week.  Blue Devil fans would like revenge for their lopsided 52-12 loss to Salisbury in the Spring.  The Hornets went on to win the state championship.

The importance of this game is evident by the media coverage it will have.  If you can't make it there, you can hear the game on WLON Radio (1050AM, 107.5 FM) or online at http://www.ktcbroadcasting.com/ or on WNNC Radio (1230AM, 101.3 FM) or online at https://wnncradio.com/football/. The game will also be live-streamed on https://www.lincolntonlive.com/.

East Lincoln will also have a rematch from a regular season game.  The Mustangs lost to Statesville 23-6 on September 24th.  The 16th seed in the 3A playoffs, East has already pulled off one upset and they're hoping for another against the unbeaten Greyhounds, the #2 seed in the western region.

In other 3A action, South Point's Red Raiders, the 16th seed in the west, will travel to Canton to play #1 seed Pisgah.  The winner of that game will play the winner of the game in Monroe between Gastonia Forestview, the 25th seed, and #9 seed Parkwood.

Hickory will try for another upset as the 21st seeded Red Tornadoes visit 5th seeded North Davidson in Lexington Friday night.  #4 seed Crest will host 20th seeded West Rowan.  The winner of that game and the Hickory game will play next week.

#11 seed Kings Mtn. will play at #6 seed West Charlotte.

7th seeded Hibriten will host 10th seeded Concord.  The winner will play the winner of the East Lincoln @ Statesville game next week.

In other 2A games, East Gaston will host Forest Hills.  The winner will play the winner of Friday's #17 seed Polk County at #1 seed Shelby game next week.

Burns, the #12 seed, will travel to Hendersonville to play the 5th seeded Bearcats.

KTC Broadcasting will have video streaming of the Burns at Hendersonville game on YouTube.  The game will also be on WCSL (1590AM, 92.3 FM) and audio online at http://www.ktcbroadcasting.com/.

The Polk County @ Shelby game will be on WOHS (AM, 1390).  WOHS-FM (101.5FM) will carry the West Rowan @ Crest game.  WAGY (Forest City) will carry the 1A playoff game North Rowan @ Thomas Jefferson.  All those games can be heard online at http://www.ktcbroadcasting.com/.

The East Lincoln @ Statesville game will be live-streamed on the NFHS Network (https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/schools/east-lincoln-high-school-denver-nc). [It is a pay-to-view service.]

As usual, the Lincoln Herald will post scores of games in progress and we should have all the scores by late Friday night.   If you're going to a game, try to get there early--big crowds are expected.  Also, dress for a very cold night.
