The Western Foothills Conference has announced its All-Conference choices for soccer for the season that ended with state championship games over the weekend. Hickory, the WFAC champ, made it to the state title game but lost 1-0 to Western Alamance in a defensive battle. The Warriors managed a goal on a penalty kick in the 76th minute that gave them the championship. Hickory had 12 shots on goal, but only one of them came close to scoring, prompting the only save by the West Alamance goalkeeper. Hickory ended the season a 22-4-1. Fred T. Foard and North Iredell finished tied for second in the conference. East Lincoln finished 4th but made it to the 4th round of the state playoffs. North Lincoln finished 6th but made it to the 3rd round.
Hickory had seven players named All-Conference: Lewis Tate, Nick Hutto, Spears Culpepper, Fletcher Tate, Orando Almanza, Ben Howard and Cesar Rangel.
Foard and North Iredell each had six All-Conference players. From Foard: Irvin Martinez-Villa, who was also named a co-winner with Lewis Tate of Hickory as Player of the Year; Conner Josey, Derek Chacon, Grayson Walker, Michael Betancourt, and Jeremy Carranza. From North Irdell, selections were: Dane Coltrane, Bryce Weston, Thomas Mann, Garrett Chase, William Bush and Jerick Moreno. Mann was named the Offensive Player of the Year.
East Lincoln's Christopher Mileta was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Joining him as All-Conference from the Mustangs were Landon Graden, Jackson Thrap and Connor Henderson.
North Lincoln's Luke Custer; Eliseo Coronado and Kavyn Cardona, West Iredell's Isaac Bunton, and Tanner Davis from Statesville were also named All-Conference.
Coach of the Year was Brian Jillings of Hickory.
