Lincoln Charter improved to 8-0 Friday with a 10-0 win over Mtn. Island Charter. Mason Smith got the win, pitching a no-hit shutout in five innings while striking out 11 Raptor batters. Donovan Davis had two HR's while Dylan Verdi and Matt Cipriano each had one. Verdi's was a solo shot, while Cipriano's accounted for 3 RBI's. Davis went 3 for 3 and drove in five runs. The Eagles will host Pine Lake Prep on Tuesday.
After winning their first six games, the East Lincoln Mustangs lost for the second time this week on Friday to St. Stephens as the Indians turned seven hits into six runs for a 6-5 victory. Garrett Michel and Gavin Houser each had a homer for East, but it wasn't enough as St. Stephens won their ninth without a loss and their 5th in Western Foothills league play. The Mustangs will travel to North Iredell on Tuesday, then play at North Lincoln on Friday.
North Lincoln downed Foard 7-3 to move into a tie for second place in the conference with the Tigers. Both now have 4-1 league marks. The Knights are 6-1 overall. Freshman Kellen Karr was the winning pitcher, going six innings and giving up
six hits while striking out six. Matt Heavner finished without giving up a hit to the four batters he faced. Landon Reeves was two for three at the plate including a triple and batted in two runs. North will play at West Iredell Monday evening.
West Lincoln downed East Burke on Friday 14-5, scoring in every inning. The Rebels will host Lincolnton on Tuesday, North Lincoln Wednesday and Bandys on Friday.
Maiden beat Lincolnton 13-9. The Blue Devils will host Newton-Conover on Tuesday. LHS will play at West Lincoln.
Terick Bumgarner struck out eight of the 13 batters he faced as Bandys downed West Caldwell 11-0. Alex Robinson batted 2 for 3 including a home run and drove in three runs for the Trojans, who are now 8-3 and tied with West Lincoln for the top spot in the Catawba Valley Conference with a 5-1 league mark. Bandys will host Bunker Hill on Tuesday.
Cherryville scored 12 runs in the third inning en route to a five-inning shutout of Thomas Jefferson. The win gives the Ironmen a 7-2 record and keeps them tied with Burns for the top spot in the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A Conference. The Ironmen will visit Burns on Tuesday, then play the Bulldogs at home on Friday.
