After playing in Spring Break tournaments this week, area high school teams get back to their regular schedule in the week ahead.
East Lincoln's baseball team lost their first game in a tournament at Myrtle Beach on Monday (April 18th) to a team from Canfield, Ohio, by a score of 15-5, but the Mustangs beat two other Ohio teams: North Royalton on Tuesday 8-5 and
Boardman on Wednesday 7-1. They return to conference play Tuesday (April 26th) at St. Stephens; then play a non-conference home game Wednesday against Bunker Hill; and finish out the week at home against North Iredell on Friday.
North Lincoln lost its first game in another Myrtle Beach tournament to Midview from Grafton, Ohio, 5-3; then won a later game Wednesdaay over Franklin County from Rocky Mount, Virginia, 2-1; and an 8-inning contest over East Rutherford 4-3 on Thursday. The Knights lost on Friday 6-5 in 9 innings to Elyria, Ohio.
North & Fred T. Foard are tied for the Western Foothills Conference lead with 9-2 records. East is tied for third with St. Stephens--they both have 8-3 conference marks.
Foard downed West Lincoln in the Hibriten tournament 11-1 on Tuesday, lost to St. Stephens 10-5 Wednesday, then finished that tournament with a 17-12 win over the host team.
North Lincoln will visit Foard on Tuesday (April 26th), then play at home Friday against West Iredell. Foard will host Hickory on Friday.
After losing to Foard last Tuesday, West Lincoln beat Newton-Conover 6-5 in the tournament at the Catawba County Fairgrounds. The Rebels will host East Burke on Tuesday and play at Cherryville on Wednesday and at Lincolnton on Friday.
Lincolnton plays at Maiden Tuesday night (April 26th). The Wolves are in second place in the Catawba Valley Conference with a 9-3 conference record. Bandys is on top with a 10-2 mark. West Lincoln is tied with Bunker Hill for third place at 8-4.
After losing their first game in the Patton High School tournament on Tuesday, Maiden fell to Chase Wednesday 15-5.
After hosting Lincolnton Tuesday, the Blue Devils will play at home Wednesday against Hickory, then at Newton-Conover on Friday.
Bandys lost to Kings Mtn. 7-1 in a tournament at Shelby on Tuesday, then beat South Point 6-2 Wednesday and South Caldwell 11-5 Thursday. The Trojans will play at West Caldwell Tuesday, at Burns Wednesday, and at Bunker Hill Friday.
Lincoln Charter had its Spring Break a week earlier and won one game before losing two in a tourney at York, SC. The Eagles returned to conference play on Tuesday with a win over Community School of Davidson 8-7. They beat CSD again, 3-1 on Thursday. Lincoln Charter will host Christ the King on Tuesday, henn play the Charlotte Stampede on Wednesday before playing Christ the King at Huntersville on Friday.
Cherryville went 1-2 in a tournament at Shallotte, NC, losing two games Tuesday before beating South Columbus 11-5 Wednesday. The Ironmen will visit Bessemer City Tuesday, host West Lincoln Wednesday, and play at home against Bessemer City on Friday.
