It's fun to be 21! The East Lincoln softball team won its 21st victory without a loss Thursday night, claiming the Western Foothills Conference Tournament championship by beating North Lincoln 6-0.

Taliyah Thomas hit her 12th home run and also had a double driving in two runs; and Leah Correll struck out 7 and gave up just three hits to Knights batters. Thomas, a senior, was named the tourney MVP. For the season, Correll, a junior, has struck out 198 and has an ERA of 0.54. She was the winning pitcher in 20 of those 21 games.

In addition to Taliyah Thomas's performance, the Mustangs' Taniyah Thomas had two singles, a double and an rbi, Betsy Eatmon had two singles and an rbi, Jaelyn Freeston had a double and an rbi, and Emery Pethal had a single and an rbi.

Needless to say, Correll and Thomas were named to the All-Tournament team along with teammate Betsy Eatmon.

North Lincoln also had three All-Tournament players: Tessa Hunt, Lilly Stump, and Clara Grace Dellinger.

Riley Vogel and Sarah Leonhardt of Fred T. Foard and Mayson Lail and Lacy Scott of St. Stephens rounded out the All-Tournament selections.

It's also a happy day in Tiger Town (Plateau). The Fred T. Foard baseball team won the conference tournament championship with a 10-1 victory over St. Stephens.

Junior Aiden Landrum got the win on the mound, going six innings and allowing just three hits. He was named the Tourney MVP.

Sophomore Hayden Tabor batted 2 for 4 and drove in three runs. Senior Connor Peschel hit a home run and drove in two.

Three Foard players were named to the All-Tournament team: Braxton Tramel, Kylan Bolick, and Josh Swink.

St. Stephens also had three: Julien Piesel, Justin Skewes, and Silas Isenhour.

North Lincoln had two: Kellen Karr and Maddux Walker; and East Likncoln had two:Garrett Michel and Graham Smiley.

Lincoln Charter's softball team took the Catawba Shores Conference Tournament championship winning 8-3 over Mtn. Island Charter.

Cherryville's baseball bunch had hoped to pull off another upset after beating East Gaston the night before, but fell short, losing the Southern Piedmont tournament championship game to Burns 4-3.

Cade Spencer gave up two first inning runs but then settled down and held Bunker Hill to four hits while striking out five as the Bandys Trojans whipped the Bears 16-2 in a game called after five innings because of the huge lead. Parker Styborski had a home run and went 3 for 4, batting in five runs. The win gave Bandys the Catawba Valley Conference Tournament championship.

Bandys also took the conference softball tournament championship with a 7-1 win over West Lincoln. West managed only five hits, none of them for extra bases. Anna Bieberich scored her team's only run in the sixth inning.
